iPhone and Apple Watch
One pet, on your wrist or in your pocket. Which device looks after it, what each one does, and how they stay in step.

One device looks after your pet
Your besti is looked after by one device at a time: your Apple Watch, or your iPhone on its own, no watch needed. That device reads your steps and workouts from Apple Health, sets your pet's mood, helps it grow and sends its reminders. It's also where the big moments happen: your egg hatches, you choose its kingdom and give it a name, and one day it graduates.
The other device keeps showing the same pet, and you can still play with it there. It just leaves the looking after to the first one.
You choose on your iPhone. In Settings, You play with your pet on switches between Apple Watch and iPhone. Left your watch at home? When it hasn't checked in, your iPhone offers to take over, and your watch lets you know when your pet has moved.
On both
These work on your watch and your iPhone: play Brain Boost games, Besti Tunes included, open the morning report, make share cards, feed your pet a Burst, turn Bursts into Sparks, shop the Spark Stash for wands, skies and hats, visit the Kingdom Store, check your achievements, look back over your pet's day and its mood calendar, visit your Family, read the evening highlights, and change Settings like Quiet Hours and bedtime. Your Sparks and the things you own are shared, and a Burst you feed on one device counts on the other.
What your watch adds
Your pet on your wrist and on your watch face, with complications and the Smart Stack. Wear your watch and its workouts and heart rate reach your pet too, whichever device is looking after it.
What your iPhone adds
The bigger screen goes deeper. Open any day and tap a moment to see what happened then, look back at the same weekday over past weeks, see which kinds of workout earned the most Bursts, and follow your pet's moods down the mood river.
The iPhone also has the Besti Bestiary, the Encyclopedia, a bigger look at WatchieBesti Family, a Dress up shortcut on your pet's card, and four Home Screen widgets: Pet Desk Toy, Pet Stats, Pet Mood and Besti Day.
How they stay in step
Both devices share your pet through your own private iCloud, so sign in to the same Apple ID on each. Your pet travels with its daily step totals and workout summaries. The rest of your health data stays in Apple Health, and we never see any of it.
If your iPhone hasn't heard from the device looking after your pet in over a day, the pet card says when it Last synced. Open WatchieBesti on that device and the other one catches up. Still looking different? The iCloud sync guide has the fixes.
